BATHING REGULATIONS
Terry Holland
Please enjoy your stay on the biggest, longest, cleanest, widest, friendliest and most welcoming beaches in the world! Savour the calming sanctuary of our spotless white sands, gently undulating dunes and clear blue summer skies – all year round!
To ensure that our pristine beach environment can be enjoyed safely by all, we kindly request that you observe a few simple rules:
Be polite, treat other beach users with respect.
Refrain from making excessive noise and follow the instructions of official uniformed beach patrol personnel at all times.
Place all refuse in the bins provided.
Topless sunbathing and ball or other games are not permitted on the beach at any time.
No pets or other animals are permitted on the beach.

Please note that, while bathing in the sea is free of charge, maintenance of the beach is costly and a nominal charge per hour is made for walking, sitting, standing or any other activity taking place on the sands.
Before accessing the beach, simply check in by swiping your YouCitizen card or an official visa-approved foreign visitor’s pass on one of the check-in posts at the official entrances to the seafront. Accessing the beach other than by one of these official entrances is strictly prohibited. Remember to swipe out again when you leave, or the standard penalty fee of 300 Euros will be automatically charged to your YouCitizen account or visitor-approved credit card. The terms & conditions you have automatically accepted by checking into the beach area can be viewed on the YourBeach app and website.
Picnic blankets, windbreaks, shelters, sunshades, food and drinks are available at reasonable prices from the automated beach kiosks found at regular intervals along the seafront. It is not permitted to bring your own food, drinks, toys, games, beach paraphernalia or similar onto the beach.
When swimming in the sea, bear in mind that the tides can change quickly. The current high and low tides and an up-to-date weather forecast can be found on the YourBeach app. Also beware of strong currents. It is advisable to check coastal area news updates before using the beach or swimming in the sea.
Beware particularly of jellyfish and sea urchins and avoid contact with these, as some species are extremely poisonous. Please note that any non-sentient floating substances whatsoever found in the water are most definitely not plastic, but probably some form of highly developed algae. Although generally harmless, this should also be avoided as it is protected by law and can cause severe allergic reactions or even death in susceptible individuals. Please note that the management accepts no liability whatsoever for any consequences of interaction with any pollutants and/or (toxic) refuse and/or (human) waste discharges that may occasionally find their way into the seas off our coast. (These are of course mostly foreign in origin.)
For security reasons, photography is not permitted on any part of the beach or the coast, as naval and coastguard patrol vessels and drones regularly patrol the coastal area. Any unauthorised vessels (including craft of any size, ships, rafts or any large floating objects whatsoever) must be reported immediately to the coastal police using the YourBeach app or the emergency services alarm number. Any person failing to report any such craft, vessel or object may be subject to a fine, a term of imprisonment of no less than five years or, if not a holder of a YouCitizen account or valid visitor’s visa, immediate deportation to any appropriate third country without the right of appeal.
Furthermore, any person failing to report any suspicious-looking person (guidelines on how to spot a suspicious-looking person can be found on the YourBeach app and website) – whether on the beach or in the sea – may be subject to a fine, a term of imprisonment of at least ten years or, if not a holder of a YouCitizen account or valid visitor’s visa, immediate deportation without the right of appeal.
Any undocumented persons found on or near the beach, in the sea, or in or on any vessel, craft or object within territorial waters are subject to arrest and immediate deportation without the right of appeal. However, please note that in the event that no coastal police or beach patrol personnel are available to make an arrest, surveillance drones operating in the coastal area are equipped with lethal enforcement capability and this capability may be deployed against any undocumented persons within or attempting to enter or leave the beach or coastal area and/or any persons aiding and abetting or potentially aiding and abetting these. These measures are in place to ensure your own safety and security and enforce our country’s sacrosanct borders, so please do not be alarmed should you witness such a deployment.
Above all, stay safe and enjoy the biggest, cleanest, friendliest, most welcoming beaches in the world!
